摘要

The machinability of oxygen-free high conductivity copper, brass and leaded free-machining brass was experimentally examined so as to find optimum tool materials and cutting conditions. Work materials were as-cast and as-extruded C1020 (JIS H 3100), as-extruded brass of C2700 (JIS H 3250) and free-machining brass of C3602 (JIS H 3250). The tool materials were K10 and P20 carbide tools, cermet, diamond-coated carbides and carbides with diamond-like carbon and Ti(C,N,O) coatings. Dry turning tests were carried out on a lathe. The machinability was evaluated in terms of cutting force, shear angle, machined surface roughness, tool failure and the strain hardening of chips.
