According to power grids planning: 1. 1000kV Ultra-High-Voltage transmission line will be built up at Shanghai for receiving other provinces power. 2. The new HVDC converter station is being built up at Shanghai for receiving Tree-Gorges power. 3. Five new 500kV AC substation will be built up in Shanghai, two 500kV substation will be built up in centre district of the city and one select underground substation as its mode. 4. It is absolutely necessary to meet the need of demand of environmental protection that means acoustic noise must be conformed stipulated standard for building substation in centre district of the city. 5. All the new high voltage overhead transmission line inside Out-Round-City should be "underground". 6. Traditional protection relays have been replaced by Microcomputer protection. In this article, features of Shanghai power grids development will be discussed, and inquire into what new problems may be occurred and how to deal with it.
