The competition for stronger and more exotic PM parts has driven the industry increasingly in the direction of more complex and expensive powder formulations, as well as more sophisticated and advanced press machines. This technological push has not been matched by comparable improvements in the powder handling portion of the industry. The powder feed system of the future needs to keep pace with these developments by providing an automated solution capable of delivering the powders cleanly, reliably, and uniformly without incurring segregation or degradation of the specific blended materials. The cone valve discharge system is particularly suited to this task because of its ability to promote mass flow and controlled feeding, while bringing the benefits of added flexibility, reduced risk of cross-contamination and a cleaner and safer operator environment.
