It is of great importance to understand the behavior of magnetic particles under an applied magnetic field. There are various fields that treat magnetic particles, such as fabrication of sintered magnets, toner transfer in laser printers, ferrohydrodynamics, etc. In these fields, computer simulations have been performed in the past without taking account of the disturbance of the magnetic field by the existence of magnetic particles. For simulating the movement of magnetic particles in an applied magnetic field, we make an attempt to develop a new scheme, i.e. a Distinct Element Method coupled with a magneto-FEM, to evaluate the disturbance. Using this simulation system, we show some examples to demonstrate clearly the disturbance of magnetic flux and growth of column structures.
