A series of centrifuge-based shaking table tests was performed on two dynamic geotechnical centrifuges. The purpose of the study was to explore the influence of remediation zone geometry as a liquefaction mitigation measure on the settlement and acceleration of a structure on a shallow foundation, while validating the experimental results by repeating the tests on a second centrifuge. Four scenarios were tested, with varying improved zone depths of 0%, 30%, 70%, and 100% of the potentially liquefiable thickness. Although the model container, soil, frequency and duration of the input wave, and the static stress condition imposed by the improved soil blocks and structures were different between the test series, the vertical soil deformations, vertical strains, and maximum excess pore water pressures compared quite well.
