Service Roaming Based Distributed Environment for Mobile Computing

Distributed Environment is necessary for large scale ubiquitous computing featured applications. In this paper, we present a novel conception, service roaming, for ubiquitous computing. Based on this conception, a distributed environment for mobile computing is proposed. The environment consists of a multi-server system and a service roaming algorithm. The multi-server system is constructed using "base station" framework. This framework can save and manage user data in application systems, providing flexibility for ubiquitous applications. Service roaming algorithm is an effective organizing algorithm. It can assist the resource organization and provide relatively steady QoS for various network conditions. A prototype system is implemented and its applications show promising results.
