Extending Linda to Simplify Application Development

摘要

This paper describes a new implementation of Linda in Java, called eLinda. This system includes extensions designed to simplify the development of distributed applications, and to enhance the efficiency of communication in a distributed memory environment. These features are described, and compared with the extended features found in other Java implementations of Linda (i.e. JavaSpaces and TSpaces), highlighting the power and simplicity of the extensions in eLinda. The application of eLinda to various practical problems is also discussed, and, in particular, the paper fo-cusses on the use of eLinda for parsing visual languages as a specific case study.
