Component technology facilitates code deployment and reuse. Applying component technology to grid computing results in efficient grid management systems, provides clear understanding of grids, and offers ease in grid designing, grid application development and deployment. Currently, there are several incompatible distributed object or component models. In this paper we propose a component-based architecture and framework that will accommodate different distributed component models for grid computing. We first describe the proposed grid architecture, called Component Grid Architecture (CGA), which is a generic form of Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA). We then describe the security, communication, and resource management and discovery mechanisms within this architecture and present a framework that allows interoperability among multiple grid systems.
