The effect of homogenization treatment following precipitate dissolution is considered. It is shown that for a planar precipitate the time for complete homogenization is considerably larger than the time required for the precipitate dissolution by ~ two orders of magnitude. For a spherical geometry it is found that the concentration in the center of the dissolved precipitate at the instant of its dissolution decreases to a value lower than the equilibrium solubility value at the matrix/precipitate interface. The model is applicable for spherical particles larger than ~ 5―500 nm, when the influence of the particle curvature can be neglected.
