Based on a group of recurrence formulae of the temperature and thermal stress by solving the heat conduction equation under the first kind of boundary, the author designed the thermal stress monitoring and analysis system on-iine for steam turbine rotor. This system can continuously monitor the thermal stress condition of the hish-press rotor and the intermediate-press rotor. The life loss of the rotor can also be calculated at the end of the transient condition. All of the processes are automatic, and no man is needed. The application to power plant and its continuous operation results demonstrate that the system makes positive contributions for the safety and economy of the units.
