摘要

We investigate through simulations the conditions necessary for effective amplification in a longitudinally-pumped Ni-like Mo soft-x-ray laser. Special effort is placed into generating a condition where the longitudinal 2 psec duration infrared beam can propagate over the full length of the preplasma. Targets generating waveguide-like density profiles, such as dual slab and capillary targets are found to be well suited for this scheme. Results of design simulations are also presented, which are aimed at experiments to be performed in the near future.
