Nuclear states with lifetimes from months to years are known and are already well-studied; their quantum numbers, decay schemes and sometimes electromagnetic momenta have been measured. The most important problems for today are the interaction of isomeric states with external radiation, measurements of the cross-sections of nuclear reactions, excitation of higher-lying states and searches for manifestation of structural peculiarities in nuclear reactions. This paper proposes experiments to study the interaction of the isomers ~(177m)Lu and ~(242m)Am with external radiation and the possibility of triggering their accelerated decay.
