Managing Business Intelligence in a Virtual Enterprise Model: A Case Study and Knowledge Management Lessons Learned

摘要

This paper presents the need for knowledge management in a virtual enterprise mode! for networking of international expert teams from academia and business in the area of data mining and decision support. The knowledge management aspects of the business intelligence as implemented in the virtual enterprise model are analysed from the point of view of (a) the need for the construction and management of a knowledge map of the available tools, expertise and collaborative work procedures, (b) the cognitive authority aspect in collaborative work management, as well as (c) the network intelligence aspect of the virtual enterprise endeavour. The paper concludes by discussing the value network aspect and subsequent knowledge spaces, as well as the potential of AI methods of data mining and decision support in knowledge management of a virtual enterprise.
