A Useful Tool for the Conceptual Design and Maintenance of Web Applications

The demand for a rapid development of web applications have created new problems. Web applications are growing too rapidly in size and complexity, thus increasing the difficulty to systematically design and maintain web applications. In this paper, we present a web modeling approach that allows designing of web applications at a conceptual level. Through this approach, the designer can concentrate on designing the higher-level conceptual model without worrying about the lower-level implementation details. Our modeling specifications are written in the platform-independent XML. In addition, we have developed a prototype to demonstrate our web modeling approach that enables the construction of complex web applications.
