XUIML: Extensible User Interface Markup Language

摘要

The XML-based languages for user interface have many advantages in portability, rapid prototyping, ease of learning, and separation between presentation and logic. However, these languages are lack of functions for handling user events, cooperating with internal logic of application, and sped/ring a new interface component. Thus users cannot build the user interface using only these XML-based languages. In this paper, we propose another XML-base language, named XUIML, which allows users to specify the appearance of user interface, action on user events, and new interface components with XML elements named after MVC design pattern -model, view, and controller. The model element handles the logic or data oj application, and the view element describes the appearance of user interface The controller element specifies what should be done on user event, and how the data are exchanged among objects. XUIML and its dedicated editor allow users to build platform-independent user interface efficiently without programming code.
