Software Infrastructure for Service and Device Management in Wireless Networks

摘要

An environment for supporting location based services on wireless networks is outlined. The approach is based on an abstraction of wireless networks for supporting software services and profile management of mobile terminals. The work is at a preliminary stage, and themes of interest are outlined with a reference implementation of the proposed model, using the Jini API from Sun Microsystems. The main thesis of this paper is that each base station within a wireless network can support information services, which may be shared by visiting nodes. Such services may also be adapted based on constraints imposed by the operating environment and the network.
