A framework for remote EDA tooling and distributed resource management

This paper presents research encompassing the design and implementation of a web based application for the distributed resource management of EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools. An investigation into the currently available development solutions, their features and their respective suitability for the implementation of the proposed system is presented. Taking the findings of this investigation an outline of the principal architecture is discussed. The design is then fully implemented and tested in a practical situation at the CeBit 2002 exhibition in Germany. This paper concludes that the designed system meets the fundamental requirements, which are increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of distributed EDA tooling across heterogeneous networks.
