STUDY ON THE APPLICATION OF IE TO THE DESIGN OF HOSPITAL IN CHINA

摘要

This paper puts emphasis on extension of industrial engineering (IE) application to the hospital design in China. Since hospital design involves many aspects, a multi-layer model for hospital design is proposed, which consists of hospital design ideology, hospital design principles, hospital design process and hospital design methodology. IE theories, principles and methods are extended into many layers of the model. Based upon the mufti-layer model, a phrase-wise model for implementing hospital design is suggested. Finally, a real work of design of a new large comprehensive hospital in Tianjin according to the multi-layer model is presented. Based on our study, we come to a conclusion that it is possible and suitable to apply the principles and techniques of IE to the design of hospital in China.
