SUCCESS CRITERIA AND FACTORS FOR COMPONENT-BASED INFORMATION SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

Based on an extensive literature survey combined with the results of a field research in Xi'an HiTech industries development zone, success criteria and factors for component-based information system development are discussed and a theoretical analysis framework is presented based on qualitative data analysis. Within the framework, success criteria are suggested as sk dimensions-time, cost, user requirements, quality levels, reuse assets, and learning effects. Thirty-five success factors are grouped with six major categories-organizational, project-level, technical, human, engineering, and COTS specific factors. The further analysis for each factor is done and a list of success factors is drawn up.
