RISK ANALYSIS OF TREES-CAUSED INTERRUPTION USING FUZZY SYSTEMS

An outage of an overhead line distribution system has a direct affectation to the reliability of the whole power distribution system. Generally, there are several causes of such a failure, e.g., trees, animals and the quality of equipment. The statistics have shown that trees touching conductors are one of major causes. In this paper, we present an application of fuzzy sets to analyzing risk of interruption caused by trees. The result of this analysis can be used to evaluate the optimized cost in planning tree trimming in the distribution right of way areas.
