摘要

Elutriation of fine alumina particles has been experimentally studied as a function of particle size and gas velocity and it has been found that it can be affected by the formation of particle aggregates. Based on a nonpredictive model, the system has been analysed under the assumption that fines are found in the bed as freely flowing elutriable particles or as part of aggregates that can either undergo breakage or remain stable under the prevailing hydrodynamic conditions. The model shows that elutriation can be limited by the presence of particle aggregates and that the amount of stable aggregates tends to increase at relatively low velocities.
