The objective of this work is to develop a dry dechlorination process for removing HCl until a low level applicable to fuel cell power generation systems utilizing fuel gas produced in gasification processes of wastes. The thermogravimetric analysis and the chemical equilibrium consideration revealed that the selective reaction between slaked lime and HCl takes place at temperature 573 K with inhibiting the carbonation reaction by CO_2. When the performance test of the dechlorination in the fluidized bed reactor made of quartz glass tube, HCl was almost removed less than 10 ppm until achieving at 0.6 in the conversion of the absorbent.
