In this paper, a directions of arrival angle (DOA) estimation algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm is based on array-signal canceling technique. Once acquiring in advance the information of DOA and transmitted power of several incident plane waves of source signals, we can cancel them statistically from mixed output signals of an array antenna based on manipulations of output covariance matrices of the array antenna. Then, DOA estimation can be performed based on the eigenspace decomposition of the covariance matrix of the residual signals. Simulations show that the proposed algorithm is effective. The proposed algorithm can be used in such applications as satellite communications, where the number of arrival signals is more than that of array elements of an antenna.
