Research and Application of PROFIBUS-PA Technology

Fieldbus technology is a digital, distributed, open and inter-operational technology, which is the hottest automation technology today which has great upon the automation field. Now, PROFIBUS fieldbus is the most popular fieldbus in industry procedure controlling area. Its application includes manufacturing automation, flow industry automation, floors building automation, traffic and electric power automation. This paper expounds characteristic and advantages of the PROFIBUS-PA based on the contrast of difference and application between PROFIBUS-PA with PROFIBUS-DP and PROFIBUS-FMS. The system's construction, communication protocol and bus technology of PROFIBUS-PA is researched in this paper, and project examples are presented as well. PROFIBUS-PA can improve the performance of systems, reduce the cost of projects, and it also has a high ratio of quality and price. PROFIBUS-PA is becoming a promising application fieldbus.
