INFORMATION GATHERING AND MANAGEMENT IN MONALISA FRAMEWORK

MonALISA (Monitoring Agents in A Large Integrated Services Architecture) system provides a distributed monitoring service. It is a highly scalable system based on loosely coupled self-describing dynamic services, using global registration and discovery mechanisms and having the ability to subscribe to a set of events (state changes) in the system. With a large base of monitoring modules such as SNMP, Ganglia, network probes and embedded program monitoring hooks, MonALISA is currently used in monitoring GRID systems, networks and distributed applications and as a platform for distributed agents. Current development work extend the existing framework to provide extra flexibility in defining data types, writing custom modules for any part of the system and introduces a GRID-grade security infrastructure.
