An Analysis of IT Applications in Construction Project Risk Management

As the guarantee of achieving the expected aim of cost, schedule, quality and safe in construction project, the risk management has been paid more and more attention by lots of scholars and project managers nowadays. There are plenty of significant models and methods provided. But in practice, these models have not yet been applied widely because of their complexity, so the IT is introduced into and some useful computer systems are developed for working out these models and supporting the construction project risk management (CPRM). Firstly, this paper presents the applications in common use in CPRM, and points out the shortcomings and advantages of these applications. Secondly, according to the characteristics and requirement of CPRM and the function and capability of IT, the more comprehensive and perfect Web-based system framework of computer system for CPRM is proposed. Finally, the main technologies applied in this framework are discussed in this paper.
