This paper synthesizes relevant research and commentary on real estate index cycles in a micro-decision-making context and discusses the strategies for investors. It begins with an extensive review on cycles, with special emphasis given to the emerging topic of real estate cycles. The second section presents the basic theory of cycles, examines the nature and dynamics of real estate cycles. The third section takes SREI (Shenzhen Real Estate Index, China) and WREI (Weiye Real Estate Index, China) as examples, showing the cycles in Real Estate Index. The final major topics addressed are the key strategic and decision implications for investors to avoid the investing risks.
