摘要

The objective of the study focuses on analyzing the preventive maintenance strategies based on observed pavement deterioration in Liu-Nan expressway. According to the field survey data over years, the primary causes of pavement distresses were analyzed, and the preventive maintenance strategies for such kind of pavement structure were discussed accordingly. The study showed that none of the life of joint sealants applied could last for 3 years, without setting dowel bars over the pavement joints the pumping, faulting and corner break distresses of pavement structure would develop at a fairly higher speed. However, based upon a preventive maintenance strategy preferred emphasis should be given to the determination of the optimal time, the selection of treatment measures and a timely implementation of the maintenance program made to improve the serviceability of pavements, the case study hereof can be helpful to the preventive maintenance of highway in China.
