Preface of the 'Symposium on Computational Methods in Photonics'

摘要

Recent advances of photonics include the development of new areas like ultrafast optics, photonic-crystal optics and nanophotonics. The idea of this Symposium is to discuss the computational methods of these new areas. We focus on the approaches of description of nonlinear waves. In particular attention is paid on the numerical and analytical methods of analysis of perturbed nonlinear Schrodinger equation as well as the generalized complex cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation. Comparison of predictions of some of these approaches with the experimental results in the study of soliton molecules is provided.
