Bonding fiber-reinforced composites laminates on the tension face of the beams is becoming increasingly popular in the upgrading and strengthening structures in bending. The achievement of the excellent mechanical properties of the composites is often braked by brittle failure modes which involve the peeling of the laminate. This paper presents an experimental testing program in which ten beams were externally reinforced and tested up to failure under three-point bending. Since all the beams demonstrated a brittle behavior at failure, an external anchorage was applied in the last two tests to postpone the debonding of the plate.
