Enabling Adaptive Enterprise Services Oriented Architectures with Distributed Object-Oriented Middleware

This paper presents an adaptive services oriented component architecture to address the programmer productivity issue as well as the adaptability requirements of enterprise application software systems. The approach is based on the assumption that the close alignment of the information model of a business object and its corresponding persistent storage is one of the primary sources for introducing inflexibility into enterprise software systems. We propose a metadata aware interface between the business object components and the enterprise repository that eliminates this rigidity and caters to the establishment of arbitrary relationships without any a priori knowledge on the part of the repository.
