This study was conducted to compare characteristics of the ashes of coarse and fine limestone for desulfation in CFBC, and to evaluate recycling feasibility of the ashes. Thermoelectric power plant in D city was selected for this study. XRF, particle size distribution, SEM, and specific surface area of the limestone were analyzed. As a result of XRF analysis, there was not shown significant difference between showed similar characteristics. As a result of SEM, fly ashes of coarse and fine limestone showed little squared-spherical shape. Fine limestone has a great amount of powder, which cause cracking in the process of coal and limestone combustion. Specific surface area was 0.27m~2/g for coarse limestone, and the specific surface areas were 26.08m~2/g for fly ash and 3.03m~2/g for bed ash, respectively. In fine limestone, specific surface area was 0.38m~2/g, fly ash and bed ash showed 29.74m~2/g and 3.45m~2/g, respectively.
