Over the recent years, the Chinese regulations for air pollution control have become increasingly more stringent. In the field of waste incineration, new emission levels were enacted in early 2002. During the planning stage for air pollution control systems for new waste incineration plants, future regulations should already be considered. This paper presents an overview of the NID~® Technology, which has already been proven to satisfy the worldwide most stringent European emission levels. Based on a compact plant lay-out, the process provides a cost-effective solution for flue gas cleaning and combines process stability with ease of operation. Reference plants prove that the system is flexible in regard to using various fuels. Special reference is made to flue gas stemming from difficult input material, e.g. residual waste with high water content, as it is often the case in the Chinese market.
