摘要

A heat retaining direct gain window system for lightweight construction is presented. In thermally lightweight dwellings, thermal mass applied to the window reveal area, along with the use of low heat loss glazings can both absorb and retain useful heat. In a heating event, this heat can be utilised to offset the heating load and in a cooling event this heat retention can be used to offset the cooling load. In non-heating events diurnal temperature swings are reduced even with open windows and blinds or curtains closed.
