An experiment was conducted to study the effect of thiram on liver antioxidation capability and rate of tibial dyschondroplasia in broilers. One hundred and twenty Avian commercial broilers were randomly allotted to three treatments which were control group, low level thiram group (50 mg/kg) and high level thiram group(100mg/kg).The experiment lasted 28d, during the experiment, blood samples were collected for determination the activity of AST and ALP, at the end of the trail, broilers were killed and liver were collected to determine the activity of SOD, GSH-Px and MDA content, the right proximal tibiotarsi were dissected in longitudinal section for assessment of TD incidence. The results showed that thiram significantly increased rate of TD, improved serum AST, ALP activity and MDA content of liver (P < 0.05), decreased SOD and GSH-Px level of liver significantly in broilers. It suggests that thiram causes tibial dyschondroplasia in broilers may through destroying liver antioxidation capability, damaging the function of liver and affecting the activity of enzyme relative to bone calcification.
