Analysis for Contribution of Natural Dust to Atmospheric Particulates in the North and South Cities of China

According to the results of environmental monitoring and researches for the source apportionment of atmospheric particulates, it shows that the sources of atmospheric particulates in urban area are wide and complicated. No matter in north or south cities of China, natural dust is an important contribution source. But under the various of influences of climate, vegetation and industrial emission, the contribution rate of natural dust in north cities is higher than that in south cities. This article analyses the contribution rates of various sources to atmospheric particulates in Taiyuan (representative city in the north) and those in Shanghai (representative city in the south). The result shows that: in Taiyuan soil dust was the first chief source, its contribution rate was 49.2 % , almost occupying 1/2 of the total; in Shanghai soil dust was the second chief source, less important than building construction dust, its contribution was 27.6 % . on the basis of the analysis for the sources of atmospheric particulates and pollution situation, the article puts forward the effective measures to prevent natural dust.
