摘要

We present a new method denoted as Marching Pixels based on organic computing principles for hardwired image pre-processing operations in CMOS camera chips. Marching Pixels are life-like objects which are travelling within a pixel array to solve in a self-organising way tasks like object detection, object centre point detection or the determination of trajectories of moving objects. Our CMOS camera chips have to meet strict requirements concerning real-time answers and robust hardware in order to use them in future production assistants. We believe that these requirements are easier to fulfil by exploiting self-organising organic computing principles than with non-distributed architectures controlled by central units. In the paper we present the Marching Pixels idea and first simulation results demonstrating the effectiveness for the detection of simple known objects.
