摘要

Residence time distribution (RTD) characterises the main flow features in non-ideal flow reactors, which is very useful to determine the mixing behaviour and conversion rate of a reactor system. Traditionally, RTD analysis is carried out by performing tracer experiments in either field scale reactors or laboratory scale physical models. This paper describes an alternative to the conventional experimental appproach, in which the RTD information in both macroscopic and microscopic levels is obtained by conducting numerical tracer experiments in a CFD simulation.
