INFORMATION REUSE MECHANISM FOR A MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM: EPIMS

The mass information generated in the construction phase includes documents such as a bill of quantities and drawings, records of construction and so on. Since this set of information covers the whole construction process of the project and all parties related to the project, it is expected to be useful after the project is finished. A management information system named EPIMS has been developed to support the collaborative work and the sharing of project information through Internet among the multi-party in constructive phase. This paper focuses on the reuse of the project information from EPIMS. The information reuse mechanism is established, and then a system approach to the information reuse is proposed. Finally, a prototype system called EXPLYZER is analyzed and the relative important issues are clarified.
