This paper detailedly analyzes the experimental characteristics of pulse alternating current plasma arcrn(PA)- gas tungsten arc (GTA) double-sided arc welding process on LY12CZ aluminum alloy. Experimentalrnresults show that, comparing with regular GTAW and PAW process, the pulse AC PA-GTA double-sided arcrnwelding process could remarkably increase the weld penetration, minish heat distortion and improve the weldrnefficiency. Plentiful experiments with multi-nozzle and single nozzle show that double arc on the plasma arcrntorch could be prevented effectively with multi-nozzle, and deeper penetration could be reached with singlernnozzle. Arc cleaning action effect falls after the keyhole was established during keyhole pulse AC PA-GTArndouble-sided arc welding process on aluminum alloy, which influences the shape and quality of the weld.
