The fabrics of dyeable modified fine polypropylene and wool top were treated by using plasma treatment of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) running in the environment (argon, argon-oxygen) at atmospheric pressure. It was found that DBD plasma can modify the surface of macromolecule textiles according to the data derived from measurements of K/S value and relative felt ball density and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) photos. After plasma treatment in argon, the anti-felt shrinkage property of wool fibre was improved. The plasma processing at atmospheric pressure in the mixed gas of argon and oxygen could evidently impart the effect of deeper hue to the polypropylene. SEM photos confirmed that there was much corrosion on the surface of the polypropylene after plasma treatment.
