Discuss on Fire Protection Design of Large Shopping Malls

Methods of building fire protection design can be divided into two groups of prescriptive fire protection design and " performance-based fire protection design". With the development of economy, large shopping malls are getting more and more all over the country. Many causes are put forward, for example, their evacuation distance is bigger than prescribed value of codes, and their staircases cannot be access to outdoors directly and steel structure slope roof cannot form an integrity fire compartment. So it is conclusion that they are only applied to the performance-based fire protection design. The advantage and disadvantage of applying the performance-based fire protection design to large shopping malls are introduced.
