ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERSATIONS WHEN LOCATING AN AGGREGATE RECYCLING FACILITY

An aggregate recycling facility can improve overall operations at an existing concrete and / or aggregate facility by: turning wastes into products, lowering disposal costs, production of new materials & markets, etc. However, potential environmental and regulatory impacts (e.g., land use permitting, water quality regulations, air quality regulations, etc.) should be carefully evaluated during the planning phase of the project. Early recognition of environmental and regulatory impacts, as well as a thorough knowledge of the applicable regulations, is required for an effective and approvable plant layout and design. The development of a recycling plan should provide an overall benefit to existing operations in the form of operational and / or monetary benefits.
