The Closed Vessel: A Tool for the Determination of the Deterrent Impregnation Depth in Deterred Ball Powder

摘要

A specifically designed closed vessel test which permits to observe the two combustion stages of a deterred propellant is proposed. Using the experimental derivative pressure history, the deterrent impregnation depth is calculated. This impregnation depth is then compared with values obtained by IR microscopy analyses and satisfactory agreement is achieved.
