In this paper we explore a potential of the quadrant method, originally developed for analysing temporal velocity fluctuations, to study structure of the form induced velocities and stresses in the near-wall region of an open channel flow with ribbed bar roughness. The obtained results relate to the assessment of contributions of the quadrant events to the form-induced stresses revealing new flow structures in the vicinity of the roughness elements.
