摘要

The authors present methods for the preparation of tender documents and for the estimation of building works directly using three-dimensional models. This contributes to a consistent description of the entire life cycle of a building based on three-dimensional models. In this paper the current application of PLM/PDM technologies in the building industry is reviewed. The differences between the usual bill of quantities and a three-dimensional unit catalogue (object data base) regarding the data structure are shown. From this methods and processes to generate the unit catalogue are derived. Eventually the special focus is set on cost estimation. Calculation methods are compared to each other, either based on the two-dimensional bill of quantities, or the three-dimensional unit catalogue.
