New Bridges on the Hungarian Reach of Danube River

The Hungarian Parliament enacted a new bill on the development of the motorway network. According to it, the total length of Hungarian expressways shall be doubled by the end of 2007. Within the program, three new bridges should be built over the Danube River. The Northern Bridge of MO motorway around Budapest will be a cable-stayed bridge with steel deck and concrete towers. It should be constructed parallel with the Danube bridge at Dunaujvaros of the M8 motorway that is a through type steel bowstring arch with 307.8 m world record main span length. Also the third Danube Bridge will be at Budapest, on the Southern section of MO circular motorway, where the existing steel girder bridge should be widened by constructing alongside a new steel bridge with orthotropic deck plate.
