A new rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) restorer line, 714R is derived from the interspecific cross B. juncea X B. napus. Its pedigree is introduced. Genetic analysis showed that the line 714R could restore male fertility of both the cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) lines polima CMS and 681A CMS and that fertility restoration of 681A CMS was under control of a single dominant gene. 681A CMS and polima CMS were identical in maintainence-restoration relationship. The origin of the restorer gene in the line 714R is under investigation.
