SMART GE.1.0 is a matrix of SPACE system designed with four-quadrant framework that indicates whether a company in the positions of aggressive, conservative, defensive, or competitive to determine the most suitable one for a particular organization. SPACE analysis was the instrument used as a systematic assessment to the four main issues that balances internal and external factors determining the theme of the strategy. The external factors are Indutrial advantage and Environment Stability, and the internal factors are Competitive advantage and Financial strength. Combining the ratings on each dimension in SMART GE.1.0 results in a frame of reference that show the position of a company so that it can be a strategic agenda. Financial strength is required to offset the environmental instability. A source of profit is industry attractiveness and competitive advantage. Then, both should have good values, otherwise, it means the business is in trouble. SME's experience difficulties in improving the quality of their businesses in the market internally and externally. The results of SWOT analysis show that external factors influence the most on SME's performance. In this regard, it is necessary to conduct the matching phase using SPACE matrix to determine the conditions of SME's at this time. The analysis results used SMART GE 1.0 system applied to 100 SME's in Semarang Culinary SME's. It provided information that most SME's were in aggressive condition.
