A comparative study on the efficiency, input current ripple, output voltage ripple and component temperatures for the dual-phase tapped-inductor boost converter (DTBC) and interleaved boost parallel-input series-output converter (IBPSC) is presented. Designs for both converters operating in continuous conduction mode (CCM) with DC-DC voltage conversion from 40V to 400V at 500W rated output power are also presented. The same circuit components are used for both topologies and a multimode board capable of implementing both configurations is used to maintain positions of components and minimize changes in PCB layout.
